Thermal Energy & Nanomaterials Lab

We are an interdisciplinary nanoengineering research group that focuses on manipulating material properties for thermal energy applications.

Our research includes applications in thermoelectric power generation, which can convert waste heat (e.g. automotive exhaust) into electricity, and thermal storage media, which can improve energy efficiency in buildings and solar thermal power plants. We also study heat transfer fundamentals with the goal of creating thermal analogues of optical filters, polarizers, and waveguides. To achieve these objectives, we custom-design materials using colloidal nanoparticles, chemical precursors, and nanocomposites.
